What documents and visa do Italian citizens need to enter Egypt?
Italian citizens travelling for tourism must carry either a passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival or an Italian Electronic Identity Card (CIE) valid for international travel with more than 6 months of remaining validity.
Travellers using a CIE must also bring two recent printed passport-size photographs.
Expired or extended identity documents are not accepted. Travellers of other nationalities should verify their specific entry requirements before departure.
Is a visa required for our stay in Sharm El-Sheikh?
For our stay from 10 to 15 November 2026, eligible Italian tourists remaining within the permitted South Sinai resort area may request the free Sinai Only entry stamp upon arrival at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport.
The Sinai Only permission is valid for short tourist stays within the authorised area and does not allow travel to other parts of Egypt, including Cairo or Luxor.
Travellers planning excursions outside the permitted area need an ordinary tourist visa, costing USD 25. Italian authorities recommend obtaining the ordinary visa even for resort-only stays because Sinai Only restricts travel outside the area, including in emergencies.
Entry conditions are subject to Egyptian immigration authorities. Please check www.viaggiaresicuri.it before departure.
