Cocktail Bar
  • Iconic

The Roosevelt's celebrated Art Deco bar, home of the Sazerac and the Ramos Gin Fizz, with walnut panelling and Paul Ninas murals.

The Sazerac Bar at The Roosevelt is one of New Orleans' great cocktail institutions. Its mahogany bar, walnut-panelled walls and murals by Paul Ninas set the scene for the city's signature drinks, the Sazerac and the Ramos Gin Fizz, the latter a favourite of Huey Long. When the bar opened on Baronne Street in 1949, women stormed in to claim their place at a once men-only bar, an event the hotel still celebrates every September. The room was restored to its 1940s appearance when the hotel reopened in 2009.

Order the bar's namesake Sazerac, or a Ramos Gin Fizz, and take a moment to study the Ninas murals.
