J-Bar has been the social heart of Aspen since the 19th century, when cowboys and miners rode in through its doors. 10th Mountain Division soldiers gathered here after training, and Hunter S. Thompson used it as his headquarters when he ran for sheriff. Inside the Hotel Jerome, it remains relaxed and unpretentious, with vintage-inspired cocktails, a burger many call the best in town and an original till signed by every bartender who has worked there.
