Golden Gopher

A historic Downtown Los Angeles bar in a 1905 building, with a grandfathered liquor licence that still lets it run a small carry-out liquor store.

The Golden Gopher occupies a 1905 building on West 8th Street and is one of Downtown Los Angeles' most storied bars. Its original liquor licence is grandfathered, so the bar still runs a small carry-out liquor store inside, an arrangement long since impossible for new venues.
