Which airport do I need to fly in and out of?
Fly into Cairo (CAI) and out of Sharm El Sheikh (SSH). International flights are included.
When should my flights arrive and leave?
Plan to arrive in Cairo on Saturday 8 May; transfers will be waiting for you. Departures are from Sharm El Sheikh in the evening of Friday 14 May. If you would like to extend your stay, let us know and we will help arrange it.
How do the internal flights work?
The flights from Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh (10 May) and from Sharm El Sheikh to Luxor and back (11 May) are group charter flights arranged for the group. Departure times and flight details will be confirmed closer to travel. One piece of hold luggage is included on the Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh flight.
Are transfers included?
Yes. All transfers to and from the airports, to excursions, the boat trip and the quad bike safari are included.
Do I need a visa?
Yes, for most nationalities. The free Sinai-only entry stamp applies only to arrivals at Sinai airports staying in the South Sinai resorts; this journey arrives in Cairo and visits Luxor, so a full Egypt tourist visa is required — available as an e-visa through the official portal visa2egypt.gov.eg or, for eligible nationalities including UK passport holders, on arrival. Your passport should be valid for at least six months. Requirements can change, so check your government's travel advice before departure (UK: gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/egypt).
Where is Tutankhamun's golden mask?
At the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, which opened in November 2025 and now shows the complete Tutankhamun collection. His tomb in the Valley of the Kings, visited on the Luxor day, still holds his mummy.
Is the pyramid light show confirmed?
Not yet. The Sound & Light Show at the Giza pyramids is reported suspended for development works and no 2027 programme has been published. It will be confirmed, or replaced, once the operator announces its schedule.
What about tipping?
Tips are not included. Tipping (baksheesh) is part of the culture in Egypt: in restaurants and cafés 10 to 15% of the bill is customary. We recommend budgeting 50 to 100 EGP for excursion drivers in Cairo and Luxor and on the desert safari, and 200 to 300 EGP for the excursion guides in Cairo and Luxor and the boat captain.
Will the itinerary change?
The itinerary, activities and hotels are subject to change, though this is very unlikely. Changes can happen due to availability, poor weather, seasonal changes or other circumstances beyond our control, and we will always do our best to keep the impact on your experience small.
Can I drink the tap water?
Bottled or filtered water is recommended throughout the trip and is readily available.
What should I pack?
A passport valid for at least six months; cash or cards for expenses; a scarf to cover head and shoulders when visiting mosques, and a bandana or scarf for the quad bikes in the desert; activewear, swimwear and a jumper for the evenings; sunhat, sunglasses and high SPF; a power bank, universal adapters and a small day bag; and any personal medication.
Can I share a room or travel solo?
