Boston's historic oyster house on the Freedom Trail, serving chowder and raw-bar oysters since 1826.
The Union Oyster House has served oysters on Union Street since 1826, in a brick building near Faneuil Hall that predates the restaurant itself. Its semicircular oyster bar, wooden booths and low-ceilinged dining rooms have welcomed generations of Bostonians and visitors, and the restaurant marked its bicentennial in 2026. Chowder, lobster and freshly shucked oysters remain the classics.
