California's oldest continuously operating restaurant, serving San Francisco since 1849 with mesquite-grilled seafood in a classic Financial District dining room.

Tadich Grill traces its story to 1849, when a coffee stand on the city's Long Wharf served fresh fish grilled over charcoal, and it is today the oldest continuously run restaurant in California. The Tadich Grill name dates from 1912, and the restaurant has occupied its home on California Street since 1967. Fish is still grilled over mesquite, a practice revived in the 1930s, and the menu keeps to the San Francisco classics: fresh seafood, creamy casseroles, hearty stews and a well-judged steak. The long wooden counter and dining room, the professional service and the steady buzz of the Financial District make it a living piece of city history.
