An original 1954 roadside diner beneath the Calico Mountains near Barstow, restored and filled with movie and TV memorabilia.

Peggy Sue's is an original roadside diner built in 1954 in the shadow of the Calico Mountains, with nine counter stools and three booths, and walls built from railroad ties and mortar from a nearby Union Pacific rail yard. Its owners, who came from Southern California, reopened it in 1987, restoring it in its original state and filling it with their collection of movie and television memorabilia; a 5 & Dime with old-fashioned ice cream and a pizza parlor have since been added.

Luxio Perspective

A playful, informal stop whose value lies in its roadside character and location.
