A Gilded Age villa on Biscayne Bay

Vizcaya was built between 1914 and 1922 as the winter home of industrialist James Deering, in the style of an Italian Renaissance villa facing Biscayne Bay. General admission opens more than thirty furnished rooms of European art and decorative arts in the Main House, the formal gardens with their fountains, grottoes and garden rooms, and the stone barge in the bay — a rare survival of Miami's early twentieth-century grandeur.
