In winter, Pine Creek Cookhouse can be reached by horse-drawn sleigh, as well as on skis or snowshoes, across the snowy meadows of the Castle Creek Valley beneath the Elk Mountains. The ride ends at the cabin restaurant, 9,750 feet up near the Ashcroft ghost town, for lunch or dinner.
